COVID-19 Dashboard
The La Habra City School District (LHCSD) remains committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining confidentiality for our students, families, and staff. As such, the District has created a COVID-19 dashboard reflecting confirmed positive cases among district students and staff on our school campuses. In the event of a positive case, school communities are notified directly by their principals or school staff. Positive cases will be displayed for a ten (10) day period. The dashboard will be updated as case counts or student enrollment/staffing numbers change, Monday through Friday. Please note, the Dashboard is not updated on weekends, non-school days, or holidays.
We have established and will continue to facilitate a cohesive, transparent COVID-19 Dashboard that identifies confirmed student and staff cases on all of our school campuses, while maintaining Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPAA) requirements.
The Dashboard is continuously being improved and refined. Data will be updated to reflect changes in enrollment and as cases are confirmed. Current positive cases include those reported within the last ten (10) days.
Communication Process in the Event of Positive Cases
In the event there is a positive case, affected individuals will be contacted directly by their school principals or staff and they will receive a letter that may include self-isolation directions and other important information. Families of students who are not affected will not receive a notification letter and no action will be required. School principals or school staff will communicate new cases directly to their school communities. Please note that our District will only communicate and provide data for confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Investigative Process
When the school receives information regarding a presumed case, our district protocol for investigation is immediately initiated. This includes communication between our staff and the parent, the teacher and the health care agency. Contact tracking, the process used by our school district, helps us to determine if there are close contacts or possible exposure within the school. Contact tracing is the process utilized by the Orange County Health Care Agency (OCHCA). After a robust contact tracking/contact tracing process, the health care agency determines the type of communication necessary to support students and staff.
What Families can do to Limit the Spread
It is going to take a concerted effort to keep our students, staff and families safe. In addition to health and safety measures taken on our campus, we encourage families to be proactive and to reinforce the importance of hand-washing, physical distancing and face coverings to limit the spread of the coronavirus. Also, if a member of your household tests positive for COVID-19 or is awaiting test results, please keep your child at home and notify your school. If your child has any symptoms associated with the coronavirus, make sure they stay home and get tested if necessary.
Anyone with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 should remain at home in isolation for a minimum of 10 days plus at least 24 hours after the resolution of fever (without fever-reducing medication) and improvement of other symptoms. A doctor’s note will be required to return to school. Finally, keep children home when they are sick. LHCSD schools and staff will maintain confidentiality and protect student privacy, following all FERPA protocols.
