El Cerrito is proud to promote Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) at our school! In order to build a positive school climate where students feel safe and supported, students learn about the schoolwide PBIS matrix. Students are taught the P.A.W.S. behavioral expectations:
- Problem Solve
- Act Respectfully
- Work and Play Safely
- Strive for Excellence
Students review what these expectations look like in different locations around our school campus during our PBIS Bootcamp at the beginning of each school year. El Cerrito staff reinforces these expectations daily in order to create a safe, respectful, and supportive atmosphere within the school community. Positive behavior is recognized daily when witnessed on campus as well as weekly and monthly with incentives and celebrations.
We are proud to announce that El Cerrito Elementary has earned the 2023 Gold Level PBIS Award. Congratulations to El Cerrito students, staff and families on this accomplishment!
