Community Message on Immigration

Dear La Habra City School District Families,

The La Habra City School District is committed to the success of every student and takes pride in ensuring that each school is a safe and welcoming environment for all students and their families, regardless of citizenship or immigration status (Board Policy 5145.13: Response to Immigration Enforcement). We recognize that recent changes and discussions surrounding immigration policies may cause uncertainty and concern for families within our community.

Federal and California laws guarantee that all children, regardless of immigration status, have the right to a free public education (Plyler v. Doe, 1982). In California, additional protections, such as those outlined in Assembly Bill 699, ensure that schools create safe spaces free from discrimination, protect student information, and foster an environment where every child feels secure and valued while pursuing their education.

We encourage families to reach out to our District office at (562) 690-2305 with any concerns or questions. Thank you for trusting us to support your children. The La Habra City School District is dedicated to fostering a safe and supportive learning environment where students can excel academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we will work to uphold our schools as centers of learning, security, and encouragement for every student, staff and family in our community.

Sincerely,

La Habra City School District
