Guidelines for Free and Reduced Price Meals
The La Habra City School District takes part in the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs. Nutritious meals are available and served every school day. Students in kindergarten through fifth grade may buy lunch for $2.80. Students in sixth through eighth grade may buy lunch for $2.90. All students may buy breakfast for $1.00. Eligible students may receive meals free. Students eligible for reduced priced meals will receive their breakfast and lunch at no charge for the 2017-18 school year.
Free and Reduced Price Meals - Every school year a new meal application must be submitted in order to continue receiving free or reduced meal benefits, unless you have received notice of Direct Certification. Meal applications are available to families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced price meals. If your family chooses to apply, please return one completed meal application per household to the school office. You will be notified by mail of your child's eligibility. Until notification you must provide your child with a meal from home or payment for meals. Please note meal charges accrued prior to becoming eligible cannot be removed after qualifying for free or reduced meal benefits.
Direct Certification - Your child may automatically be certified to receive free meals, if you currently receive Food Stamps, California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWorks), Kinship Guardianship Assistance Payments (KinGAP), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservation (FDPIR) benefits. You will be notified by mail before school starts each year if you do not need to complete an application.
