IMS Students Showcae IB Learning in Action

As a fully authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) school, Imperial Middle School empowers students to become compassionate, inquisitive, reflective, and principled young leaders. With a mission to create a better world through global awareness, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving, our dedicated teachers implement a student-centered, inquiry-based IB curriculum rooted in a “think globally, act locally” mindset.

On January 9, 2025, Ms. Cosand and our exceptional 6th-grade students proudly presented at the Board Meeting, showcasing the significance of the IB approach to teaching and learning. The students spoke with confidence and knowledge as they shared their IB Design Projects, guiding the engaged audience through the MYP Design Cycle.

Their project focused on using design thinking principles and integrating science concepts to address a real-world problem—creating an iPad stand to reduce “tech neck” during device use. Students demonstrated their ability to apply research-based solutions while reflecting on their learning by assessing and refining their work using the MYP Design Cycle rubric and peer feedback.

This presentation exemplifies the power of the IB approach, which not only fosters deeper conceptual understanding but also equips students with essential 21st-century skills. Through inquiry, collaboration, and reflection, our students gain the tools they need to tackle real-world challenges and make a positive impact on their communities.

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Cosand and our amazing 6th-grade students for demonstrating their incredible IB learning and inspiring us all at the Board Meeting. Your work highlights the transformative power of an IB education!
