Project Kids is a student led group of Las Lomas Entrepreneurs who use inspiring ideas to make an impact in their community. For the past two school years, Project Kids and volunteers have operated a student led Farmers Market at Las Lomas Campus.
The 2021-2022 school year began by having a class discussion on needs and wants. The students realized our needs had changed due to COVID. After much discussion, the students came up with an inspiring idea, to provide much needed essentials to our Las Lomas Community. Through community partnerships like Vista Community Clinic and Scott Miller, Project Kids Helping Our Community was able to put their idea into action by having a monthly Farmers Market. At the Farmers Market, 472 students from Las Lomas and Early Learning have the freedom to shop throughout the Farmers Market for items their families might need or enjoy.
Project Kids continues to collaborate on how to improve the Farmers Market. The skills and experience that our Project Kids students are learning, such as the 6 C’s, filling out job applications, job training, marketing and partnerships is giving them real world experiences that will prepare them for their future.
