Superintendent's Message for Families for 2021 school year.

Superintendent's Message for Families for 2021 school year.

Dear LHCSD Families,

La Habra City School District is looking forward to welcoming our students back to regular school schedules on Monday, August 16 (Grades TK-7) and Tuesday, August 17 (8th Grade).
The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) released updated guidance for K-12 schools. The new guidance reflects updates made last week to the K-12 schools’ guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

As a reminder, COVID-19 health requirements are set by state and county health officials, and school districts are required to follow the guidance in order to operate for in-person instruction.

The guidance states that during the 2021-2022 school year, masks will no longer be required in outdoor settings, but will be required while in the classroom during the school day. Teachers and staff must also wear masks when indoors with students. CDPH stated that it will reassess conditions and determine whether to change the mask
requirement no later than November 1, 2021.

CDPH also shared that: By requiring masking indoors, the state was able to modify the physical distancing requirements to facilitate a return to full in-person instruction.

One of the most important tools we have to help keep each other safe is getting vaccinated. People are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, or two weeks after the Johnson & Johnson single-dose. While it is not a requirement to return to school, public health authorities strongly encourage anyone over the age of 12 to get vaccinated as an additional layer of safety.

School websites will be updated by August 1st to reflect the start and end times for all grades.

As always, thank you for your patience. We look forward to welcoming all students back for in-person instruction on August 16. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
