La Habra City School District selects Mrs. Deanna Putnam as the next El Cerrito Elementary School Principal
La Habra, CA - The La Habra City School District (LHCSD) is pleased to announce that after an extensive interview process, Mrs. Deanna Putnam will be recommended to the LHCSD Board of Education to serve as the next Principal of El Cerrito Elementary School. This appointment will be included as an agenda item at the June 9 Board of Education Meeting. This selection is a result of the District’s reorganization and the recent promotion of current El Cerrito Principal, Ms. Emily Flesher, to Director of Programs and Assessments.
Mrs. Putnam has 27 years of experience in education, all of which have been dedicated to the students and families of LHCSD. She began her teaching career at El Cerrito in 1995 and transitioned to her current position as Teacher on Special Assignment in 2014. Mrs. Putnam has served in several administrative capacities including Administrative Designee, Interim Principal, Summer School Principal, and Extended Learning Opportunities Administrative Designee. Her training and expertise in Computer Science Programming and Coding Curriculum Integration will ensure continued support and development of the award-winning Code to the Future Computer Science Magnet program at El Cerrito School. With a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Mrs. Putnam’s experience, coupled with her effective communication and problem-solving abilities, will be an asset to all in her new role.
Mrs. Putnam is the proud mother of two twin sons, Luke and Joel, both 21. Luke attends college and Joel is currently serving in the U.S. Army. Her husband, Ken, is also in the field of education and serves as a high school teacher in Orange County.
Mrs. Putnam brings a strong desire to see all students achieve their goals and develop 21st century skills to ensure their success. With strong community ties, broad educational and personal experiences, Mrs. Putnam is enthusiastic to lead the El Cerrito team as they work collaboratively with families, students, teachers and staff to provide educational environments and cultures where students will thrive.
