LHCSD Water Conservation Efforts

La Habra City School District is committed to supporting the community’s efforts to conserve water. The following water conservation procedures are already in process:

  • Constantly monitoring weather and soil conditions and adjusting sprinklers as necessary
  • Shutting down all district sprinklers  for 2 days before rain days and up to 10 days after the final day of rain
  • Incorporating drip irrigation technology into new landscapes and changing other adaptable areas to drip systems
  • Installing water conserving sprinkler heads and promptly making repairs to broken heads or lines
  • Use of more drought tolerant turf
  • Replacing some turf areas with drought tolerant plants
  • Replacing water thirsty plants with drought tolerant plants
  • Aerating high impact areas to allow for better water penetration
  • Using bark and wood chips to maintain higher moisture content
  • Only using blower and brooms to clean up walkways and parking lots
  • Re-routing rain gutter run off to flow to landscape areas
  • Washing trucks and equipment only once a month instead of weekly

The Maintenance and Grounds continues to attend trainings and research new ideas to help us conserve our resources while maintaining a safe, healthy environment for our students.

Please use the ‘Let’s Talk’ button on the District Website at www.lahabraschools.org to report any concerns or repairs.
