La Habra City School District swept this event held at Cal Poly Pomona earning First (Washington Middle School), Second (Las Positas Elementary), and Third (Sierra Vista Elementary) place in the obstacle course competition. The obstacle course competition requires students to code on the fly without any previous course details. Our students were required to measure the distances, convert the distances to rotations, make left/right turns, follow a black line, stop in place for a given numbers or seconds, stop, read, and display the color the light sensor reads, and make a turn that is less than 90 degrees. All of this done in one sequence of code. The team that completes the course in the least amount of time and the most accurate wins. La Habra City School District students were amazing. Walnut Elementary also earned a Performance Recognition in Sumo (Finale). The Robot name was R2-GQ, and Sierra Vista earned a Top Performers Recognition.
