The Orange County Academic Pentathlon Competition is an exciting five-event competition for grades six, seven, and eight. The program engages students of all achievement levels in a variety of challenging academic events.
Under the guidance of an adult coach, teams of students prepare for competition in the subject areas of fine arts (art and music), literature (including essay analysis), math, science, and social science.
The theme for the 2019 Orange County Academic Pentathlon was “The 60’s: A Transformational Decade”. Students studied the theme through the subjects of Science, Literature, Fine Arts, Social Science, and Mathematics. The competition is designed to build on the skills of Critical Thinking, Communication, Teamwork, Creativity, and strong Character Traits. Students participated in tests, wrote essays, and competed in a team Super Quiz to prove their knowledge and skills.
The Washington Patriots 7th and 8th grade teams earned 1st Place in the Super Quiz. The 7th grade team earned 1st Place Overall Team while the 8th grade team earned 4th Place Overall Team.
