Dr. Marcie Poole (Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services) and Anna Navarro (Program Specialist, Educational Services Multilingual Support) presented on the topic of “Embedding the needs of Multilingual Learners in Cycles of Inquiry '' at the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA).
The focus was on leading district wide cycles of inquiry as a systematic approach. Data analysis, measurable goals, and fidelity to the plan were stressed as integral components. They highlighted the importance of being intentional about prioritizing the needs of Multilingual Learners in the ongoing cycles of inquiry. Connections to promising practices were made by sharing classroom learning walks and a focus on designated ELD used in the La Habra City School District to ensure that Multilingual Learner success is built into the system for continuous improvement.
