iPad Protection Program
What is the LHCSD Voluntary iPad Protection Program?
The La Habra City School District is proud to provide an iPad to every student in the District. The iPad will be issued to your child for use both at school and home. We understand the importance of keeping these devices secure and in good working order. Therefore, the District has developed a voluntary LHCSD iPad Protection Program. The program details are as follows:
- Cost: The iPad Protection Program costs $20 per student.
- Enrollment: Coverage must be purchased within 30 days of starting classes each school year.
- Accidental Damage: If a student’s iPad is accidentally damaged, the repair cost (typically between $30.00 and $379.00) will be waived, and the iPad will be repaired at no cost to the family. The program covers up to two repairs per year. Willful and purposeful damage will result in a fine for the full value of the repair. Damage assessment is at the sole discretion of the District.
- Theft: If an iPad is stolen, the replacement cost will be waived for one incident per year. A police report must be filed within 24 hours of the incident, and a copy of the report must be submitted to the District.
- Loss: Lost iPads are not covered under the protection program. If a lost or stolen iPad is recovered in good working condition, the fine will be refunded in full.
- Family Coverage: Families with more than two children receiving iPads only need to pay for a maximum of two iPad protection enrollments per school year. Families must fill out the Request for iPad Protection Credit for Additional Siblings to start the process.
- Exclusions: Normal wear and tear of the charger, protective case, and any other peripherals issued with the iPad are covered by the LHCSD iPad Protection Program. If these items are lost or willfully and purposefully damaged, a fine will be issued for the replacement cost. An equivalent replacement of the charger and cable will be accepted in lieu of the fine at the sole discretion of the La Habra City School District Technology Department.
- Leaving the District: If a family leaves the District without returning the iPad, a fine will be issued for the full replacement cost, and standard restrictions on certificates, records, and transcripts will apply. The District will send a signal to the device to render it unusable.
