Internet Access for Families

The La Habra City School Districted has invested in building a highly-available wireless network at all our schools through the federally funded e-rate program. Recently, we have identified outdoor areas at select school where our students can access our the robust network for distance learning activities. Our recent technoolgy survey shows that 95% of students that responded have access to high-speed internet at home. Listed below are resources that could help provide affordable options to help families connect.

Using Cellular Service for Internet Access for Other Devices

Many cellular plans and providers will allow you to use your cell phone to provide an internet connection for other devices (e.g., a Chromebook). See below for instructions on how to set up a phone as a hotspot/wireless connection.

Additional Options in Response to COVID-19

The FCC has introduced the Keep Americans Connected Pledge and many companies have signed on to offer assistance to families and schools. In addition to the commitments in the pledge, several telecom companies have made their own commitments ranging from increasing data caps to waiving overages depending on the company. The goal is to help students maintain access to educational resources during this rapid shift to online learning solutions. Internet Assistance through the District

The La Habra City School District will provide internet access for students who do not have internet access and who require access to participate in schoolwork or emergency distance learning activities.
